Get Involved

How many times have you watched Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition and been touched by the extraordinary life-changing gift a new home is to a family in need?

Extreme Home Makeover is, well, extreme. However, there are many local organizations and non-profits that do everything from make simple repairs to building a new home for our local families.

Please check out these organizations and see how you can donate, volunteer, or get involved.

Habitat for Humanity – NOVA
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia is a Christian housing ministry seeking to draw together the time, talent, and resources of our community to build decent, affordable housing for God’s people in need. Habitat for Humanity’s unique approach to low-cost homeownership relies on owner sweat equity, donor generosity, volunteer labor, and an interest-free mortgage.

Women Who Build
Formed in the fall of 2008, our group — a growing grassroots effort that works under the umbrella of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia — is determined to bring together women from all walks of life to help support the work of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia.

Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore
ReStore is a resale business that sells new and used building materials and home improvement items to the general public. All materials are donated by local retail businesses, building contractors, suppliers and individuals, and are made available for sale to the public at 50% to 90% below retail prices. There are two Northern Virginia locations; Alexandria, and Chantilly.

HomeAid Northern Virginia
HomeAid Northern Virginia builds and renovates homeless shelters, transitional houses, food banks, medical clinics, counseling centers, and other facilities that help homeless people gain stability and a roof over their heads.

Women Giving Back
Women Giving Back was founded in June, 2007, by a core group of building industry sales and marketing professionals. The goal is to supplement the great work HomeAid NoVA is doing in building shelters by helping the transitionally homeless women and children get on their feet with clothes to help them enter the workplace.
